May 28th at 11 am ETGet Clear on Diaphragmatic Breathing
“Diaphragmatic breathing” is a popular term but lacks clarity for many people, even pros. This workshop helps you understand the process as well as how the whole system organizes around it.
Where the ribs move, how the body changes shape, where pressure goes as a result: these mechanics directly influence what the pelvic floor can do.
What happens in the body when rib mobility is limited? Or is there a thoracic pattern restricting breath? This is happening inside every exercise you teach, in every body through every breath.
This workshop brings that connection into focus.

Experience how breath and rib mechanics help you access your own pelvic floor
Through somatic movement that maps how the ribs move in three dimensions, you’ll feel these connections in your own body first, and then learn how to guide clients into the same awareness.

You’ll understand:
Why “diaphragmatic breathing” as a cue may be oversimplifying what’s actually happening in your client’s system
How breath functions as a strategy that manages pressure, and why that changes how you assess clients
What happens to the pelvic floor when there is “upstream” tension
What exercises can help your clients re-pattern their breathing
Three big aha moments for me: understanding WHY that yogic belly breathing is not so great and really shifting my focus to 3D rib breath. And discovering that I have a diastasis much higher up, below my floating ribs, that was really creating tension and affecting my breathing pattern.
Amy Aarabi, Yoga, meditation, and movement teacher, RYC® Professional, California
What you’ll gain in 90 minutes:
Assessment awareness
Learn to see breath as a pressure strategy, and recognize when that strategy is loading the pelvic floor
Conceptual precision
Understand the difference between air and breath, belly movement and rib expansion, the cue and what the body actually does with it
Embodied understanding
Feel these connections in your own body through rib mapping and breath exploration in multiple dimensions
A systems lens
Experience the core as a pressure management system where the diaphragm, pelvic floor, and abdominal wall coordinate reflexively
*Replay access included (available through June 2)
When you see these connections, your work deepens
What can shift in for your clients:
- They begin to feel, sometimes for the first time, how their breathing connects to what’s happening in their pelvic floor
- A single breath-aware exercise can create more awareness than months of isolated cueing
- Practice at home starts to make sense in their body, because it connects to something they can actually feel
- Daily movement becomes a space for awareness and connection, in turn building on what happens in your sessions
What can shift for you:
- You start reading breath as part of a pressure system, seeing where it creates shape and what that means for the pelvic floor
- Your cueing becomes more specific, because you understand what’s actually happening underneath it
- You have another way in during those moments when a client’s exercise form looks right and progress has stalled
I really loved learning to SEE breathing patterns. I’ve had lots of breath work trainings, but you don’t get the opportunities to see how oblique dominance and bearing down look in bodies. For me this was very impactful.

This workshop is a glimpse into the RYC® Method
Lauren Ohayon has spent 25+ years exploring how the body’s systems work together. The RYC® Method grew from seeing the same patterns in thousands of bodies, and finding practical, integrated ways to work with them.
In this workshop, you’ll explore one specific connection: how breath and rib mechanics influence pelvic floor function. You’ll experience it in your own body, and learn how to guide others into the same awareness.
If you’re a…
- Yoga or Pilates teacher
